Let’s kick off with one of my top tequila drinks, which I’d even choose over water: the Spicy Paloma! Some may disagree, but this drink doesn’t have to be pricey, especially when made at home. Embrace the spirit of National Tequila Day 2025 with this delightful drink!
Ingredients for Jalapeño Syrup
- 1 Cup Jalapeños
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1 Cup Water
Ingredients for Paloma
- 2 Cups Lime Wedges
- Coarse Salt
- 3 Ounces Grapefruit Juice
- 1 Ounce Jalapeño Syrup
- 1 Ounce Tequila
- Sparkling Water
Method
- Start by simmering all ingredients for the jalapeño syrup in a pan over low heat.
- Once it thickens, remove it from heat and let it cool.
- Refrigerate overnight.
- Rim a glass with a lime wedge, then dip it in salt to coat the rim.
- Add the jalapeño syrup, tequila, and grapefruit juice to the glass.
- Top it off with sparkling water and garnish with a lime wedge—your Spicy Paloma is ready!
2. Margarita
You can’t celebrate National Tequila Day without the iconic margarita! With countless variations, this drink is visually stunning and flavorful.
Ingredients
- 2 Teaspoons Diamond Crystal Kosher Salt
- Ice
- 1 Medium Lime
- 1 Ounce Orange Liqueur Blanco
- 1 ½ Ounces Silver Tequila
- ½ Ounce Agave Nectar or Simple Syrup
Method
- Start by rubbing a lime wedge along the rim of the glass.
- Invert it onto a plate of salt to create a salted rim.
- In a cocktail shaker, combine 1 ounce of orange liqueur, 1 ½ ounces of silver tequila, and ½ ounce of agave nectar with ice, then shake vigorously.
- Strain and pour into the prepared glass.
3. Ranch Rose
When I want to create a tequila drink without using a shaker, I reach for the Ranch Rose. Vibrant pink, refreshing, and delightful—why settle for a rose when you can have this tequila version instead?
Ingredients
- 1 ½ Ounces Blanco Tequila
- ¾ Ounce Lillet Rosé
- ½ Ounce Blood Orange Syrup (such as Liquid Alchemist)
- 1 Ounce Lime Juice (strained from 2 limes)
- Ice
- 2 Ounces Sparkling Water (such as Topo Chico)
- Dried Rose Petals
Method
- Add 1 ½ ounces of blanco tequila, ¾ ounce of Lillet, ½ ounce of blood orange syrup, and 1 ounce of lime juice to a glass.
- Pour in sparkling water and add ice.
- Garnish with rose petals for an elegant touch.
